Canada Day celebrates a united Canada and its independence, similar to the Fourth of July being a celebration of American independence.
On 1st July 1867, the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada.
Typically, it is celebrated with parades, fireworks, displays of the flag, the singing of the national anthem, “O Canada,” and backyard barbecues. Many Canadians wear their national colors, red and white, to celebrate Canada Day.
